Nutella Heart Puff Pastries

Looking for an easy yet adorable treat for Valentine’s Day? These heart-shaped puff pastries are a fun twist on the traditional palmiers. With a golden, flaky crunch and a luscious chocolate hazelnut filling, they’re a simple yet show-stopping way to spread some love. Whether served with coffee, tucked into a dessert platter, or gifted to someone special, these heart puff pastries are sure to impress!

Ingredients:

- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed if frozen

- 3 tbsp Nutella and more for dipping

- 1 egg, beaten with a splash of milk (for egg wash)

- All-purpose flour, for dusting

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Pastry

Lay the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut approx. 6x7cm, the smaller the rectangle the harder to create the heart. Adjust to the size of your puff pastry sheet. Spread a thin even layer of Nutella spread over the pastry, leaving a small border.

2. Shape the Hearts

Tightly roll up the pastry from the slightly longer side of each rectangle. Fold each tube in half. To ensure the correct side to cut, make sure the bend is towards you so it a U shape, turn over to the smooth side and flatten slightly. Cut into the pastry from top to bottom and leave 5mm at the top so the pastry is not split in half completely.

Flip over and create a v shape and pinch the bottom and open up to reveal all the layers.

3. Bake the Pastries

Preheat the oven to 180c. Place parchment paper on a baking sheet. Place the heart-shaped slices onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them apart. Brush with egg wash and bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Let cool slightly before enjoying!
